Just when I was having some hard time last week fighting with nonsense in the office, I received a surprise gift package. Everything inside nicely wrapped, 2 Pilot fountain pens about the same age as me, a little letterpress booklet with dozens of travel quotes and a beautifully written note. Thanks to Kelly from Walla Walla, my mood swung 180 degrees! What a day.
It was June 2009 when I posted about the Legendary Pilot Myu and Myrex, beautiful fountain pens with nibs made in one piece with the grip. When I opened those boxes last week I immediately remember this post and deeply touched by the thoughtfulness of this woman, it was not about the gifts themselves, but her remembering the post and went all the way to get these now expensive pens for me.
Interestingly, the 90th anniversary limited edition Myu I bought myself is now rusting a bit on the pen clip, whereas the MYU 701 and Long Murex gifts which are over 33 years old now still shines. Again, these are unique fountain pens worth checking out and Russell Stutler has some nice information put up on his site.
As for the little letterpress travel quotes booklet, it is made by Paisley Roberts Papers and Press. I got some nice ideas out of it while I was contemplating this year's upcoming Travel Photo Cafe! Check out the photos I took of this event from last year (2009). Thanks again Kelly!
